💡 What is the problem you’re trying to solve?

don’t make museum boring.

1. take a stab at framing it as a design question.

how can we encourage more exciting experiences at museums?

2. now, state the ultimate impact you’re trying to have.

(better communication with visitors, clear map of where exhibits are located and which are open, make education enjoyable, destroy the stereotype that museums are old fashioned and boring, show that we care about our visitors!!)

encourage visitors from around the world to visit and present them with a fun and memorable experience.

3. what are some possible solutions to your problem?

think broadly. it’s fine to start a project w a hunch or two, but make sure you allow for surprising outcomes.

better promotion of the museum and its exhibition to invoke curiosity and interest, better communication with customers to update them on the museum’s status, make posters and update brochure designs.

4. finally, write down some of the context and constraints that you’re facing.

they could be geographic, technological, time-based, or have to do with the population you’re trying to reach.

many people, regardless of their age, think of museums as a boring place with nothing but education. I want a solution that can change this perspective.

a museum is not a place where people visit regularly, and is considered as a place to be visited for educational purposes only. as “education” is far from fun and exciting, people refrain from visiting museums.

geographically, the Museum is located on Victoria Island. therefore, the majority of the visitors are tourists that do not live in the area.
