1. General Information
- Title: The Friendly Shark
- Game Concept: A friendly shark is lonely and without friends. It storms around the ocean in an attempt to meet other fish and make friends. As it swims around, it encounters a fish in danger, and works to help save the fish. If player successfully clears all three levels, the shark and fish become friends, and if they don’t, the shark remains lonely.
- Genre: RPG
2. Types of Fun
- Narrative - as an RPG game, it will have narratives to help the player be more engaged in the game and its story.
- Challenge - as the level increases, the more challenging it gets.
- Fantasy - in real life, there are no “friendly sharks” that want to be friends with a small fish. This is what makes the game more interesting.
3. System Design
Mechanics:
- Player can swim(move using arrows), speed up(using space bar), shoot(Z), and talk to NPCs. Depending on the player’s responses to a questionnaire in the beginning, the shark(player) will be designed differently.
Goal:
- The player’s objective is to save all fishes and eventually become friends with them. They must obtain the blue friendly bubble and shoot it at the fish, while keeping some distance(to not scare the fish).
How game ends:
- Player saves all fishes. (WIN)
- Player does not save all fishes. (LOSE)
- loses all health by:
- bumping into obstacles
- unable to finish in time
- scares fishes away by being too close to them
